The Golden Circle is the well trodden tourist route around greater Reykjavik stopping at the site of Iceland’s first Parliament Þingvellir, the very impressive waterfall Gullfoss, and the geothermic valley of Haukadalur, where you can see the geysers Geysir and Strokkur.
We took this tour ourselves in our (still manual) hire car, and although it poured rain all day and was colder than any civilised person should be required to endure we enjoyed Iceland’s many beautiful panoramas and natural wonders.
PS. Icelandic horses look like emos - click here.PPS. Reindeer is delicious - especially served with a blue cheese sauce and fries.
