Ciao Napoli!
First stop was Pizza at Da Michele, which we stumbled across accidentally and later realised it was the Pizza place that came highly recommended by Mo (and Lonely Planet)!
Then we wandered along the main street, ‘Spaccanapoli’ (literally meaning break Naples because it cuts right through the middle of the old part of the city) and on to the Museo Archeologico Nazionale (National Archaeological Museum) where there are a collection of amazing relics from Pompeii and Villa Adriano. Not to mention the ‘Secret Room’ that contains statues and paintings of a more… erotic… nature, many of which were scavenged from a brothel in Pompeii, kind of like a guide book to the services on offer!
Down along the bay we took in the main landmarks: Castel Nuovo, Galleria Umberto I, Teatro San Carlo, Palazo Reale, Piazza del plebiscito and Chiesa di san Francesco di Paola, all amazing!
Then we took a fun little Funicolare (Funicular - like an angled tram) up the mountain to Vomero for the most amazing view over Napoli and the bay.
On the way home we stopped for some of the best pizza (1 Euro) that we ate on the street like the Napolitani!
