Driving on the Autostrade from Milan to Menaggio seemed to assert that, somewhat surprisingly, Northern-Italian drivers are not quite as courteous and attentive as those in the South. The fast-lane/no undertaking rules which work so well to keep traffic moving didn’t seem to be adhered to, resulting in a whole lot of tailgating and traffic build-up. Thankfully, once away from the chaos of the Autostrade, the scenery of the mountainous drive to the Como province was quite beautiful.

After spending the afternoon taking in the views on a walk through the town centre and along the lake, and having a mini panic that neither of the ATMs were working and the boat hire company only accepted cash, we settled in having a few drinks at our lodgings for the night and enjoying the night time view.
