A Royal Day Out! While Lizzy is away for the summer, we decided to check out her place. First off we had a look at the royal artworks as part of the Queen’s Gallery. Two exhibitions were displayed, the Dutch Landscapes and Ancient Mythology.
Then we were able to tour the State Rooms of Buckingham Palace, which is where guests are entertained during official visits. In the magnifient rooms of Buckingham Palace we also saw the Royal Fabergé collection, and of course Kate’s wedding dress was on display! They were both exquisitely detailed with so much symbology woven in, it was quite incredible to see in real life.
Finally in our Royal Day Out, we visited the Royal Mews where the Queen’s collection of coaches (and the horses that draw them) are looked after. There is an Australian coach given to the Queen on our bicentenary - I’m not sure why she get’s presents for our birthday. The highlight of this tour was definitely the Gold State Coach - all four tonnes of its guilted glimmering-ness of it!
